Shabab Oman II

Shabab Oman II

Back in October 2014 we were asked if it were possible to be onboard a clipper ship covered in cables and sails and film it 100km offshore? naturally we said yes. This was a great opportunity and once in a lifetime chance to board the Shabab Oman II navy training vessel on its maiden voyage from Holland back to Oman, to be welcomed in by dignitaries. We boarded a flight early morning from Gatwick to Malaga with all our kit in Peli cases, on arrival we headed to Malaga port and boarded the ship, welcomed by the crew and Captain. The next morning we set sail for Malta in 32 degrees celsius.. It was the start of a fantastic journey across the sea and the chance to get some amazing drone footage of the ship at full sail, which took around three hours as it was all done in the traditional way…. by hand

With a small 2 meter square plot at the stern of the ship surrounded by cables and listing under sail we launched the drone and began to get what we had came for… See what we achieved here: https://vimeo.com/109696221 with our own edit of the drone footage we captured. Enjoy..
